Gratitude is Contagious

I recently celebrated my 42nd birthday… so my hubby & I decided to take some time out of our busy schedule to visit Dunsborough for a little getaway.

Birthdays roll around once a year. Like it or not, every 365 days we add another number to our age. For years, when I was a kid, I could not wait to get older. As I moved into early adulthood, that started to change. I remember it all changed when I turned 30. Before you know it, you’re 40, and then 40 something.

I’ve always considered age nothing but a number, it truly is about how you feel.

Birthdays are always a special time for me.. one of reflection and gratitude!

Sometimes, it is easier to focus on what we don’t have, rather than what we do have. It is important to take time out and remember all of the things to be thankful for that many of us take for granted.

So, with that in mind, rather than dwelling on any negative of turning 42, I decided this year to choose to focus on 42 things that I am grateful for!

Here they are:

  1. My loving and patient husband of 14 years, who I get to share everyday and create memories with that we will treasure forever!
  2. Fantastic, supportive, and healthy parents, who I can count on for anything and who always put their children first!
  3. A sister who I have grown up with and have shared lots of wonderful moments and memories with, and I know will always be there for me if needed.
  4. My friends – some old, some new but all cherished.
  5. All my nephews and nieces who make me laugh and put a smile on my face whenever I am around them. They always bring joy to my life. Watching children laugh, grow, and dream can keep things in perspective.
  6. My in-laws for raising a strong, ambitious, and independent man, that cares and looks after me every day.
  7. Sister and brother in laws – for welcoming me into their family and treating me as one of their siblings.
  8. A sturdy roof over my head.
  9. A cozy and loving home.
  10. Fresh food to eat.
  11. Experiencing delicious tropical and exotic fruit from my husband.
  12. Money in the bank.
  13. Breathing fresh air.
  14. My morning ceremonial cacao.
  15. Walks on the beach.
  16. Swims in the ocean.
  17. Holidays away with my hubby.
  18. Living in Australia.
  19. My good health.
  20. All my doTERRA Essential Oils.
  21. A rewarding job.
  22. My health and hormone journey.
  23. Eyesight – Being able to see allows us to view the world’s beauty.
  24. Hearing – Being able to hear your loved one’s voice is something that not everyone gets to do.
  25. Laughter- without laughter, the world would be a sad place.
  26. Night cuddles and the security of knowing someone is always right there.
  27. Living near my family.
  28. Memories and photographs of long-gone relatives, much missed and loved.
  29. Morning kisses at 3.30am by my love.
  30. Spontaneous hugs.
  31. Smashed avocado on toast.
  32. For all the people that have come in and out of my life that have all taught me some sort of lesson.
  33. For the loved ones that I have lost.. especially my brother in law Nick. They have all taught me to appreciate and enjoy life and not to take it for granted.
  34. Early morning walks with my beautiful friend Nicole.
  35. Regular chiropractic adjustments.
  36. A comfortable bed to sleep on every night.
  37. Fresh clean water to drink.
  38. A body that can move.
  39. Pain – without pain, it would be difficult to appreciate life’s joys.
  40. Sunshine -The sun’s warmth can brighten any day.
  41. Love – The world sure would be a different place if we lacked the ability to love and feel loved.
  42. Waking up today – Simply waking up today means you have things to be thankful for!!

I could go on and on… once you start, you realise that there are so many things that we should be grateful for!!

Give it a try!!  What are you grateful for?

Having read this I believed it was extremely informative. I appreciate you spending some time and effort to put this informative article together. I once again find myself personally spending way too much time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was still worthwhile! Susette Kahlil Craggy
